    Description

Please email with any questions. Group of six 4" by 5 3/4" paper drayage receipts from Macon, Georgia. W F Grace must have been a drayman, receiving goods from trains in Macon. These receipts came out of a vast collection of business ephemera from Carhart & Curd, a Macon hardware store in the 19th century. Carhart & Curd took orders from individuals and business in surrounding counties and would send on the orders to their customers via train or wagon. Tobacco in one form or another is on the list of articles received on every receipt. The receipts have a serrated right edge and unevenly torn left edge.
